Calling all songwriters, lyricists, singers, instrumentalists, band members,
or ANYONE with a song idea
In this special 5-day camp, students will learn the basics of writing and recording their own song within a group setting.
Students will be able to share and post their recording after it’s completed by our professional producer, Justin Long!
Have you ever hummed a song idea, or came up with a cool lyric and thought to yourself: “Wow, that could be a great song!” If you only knew how to put it all together…if only you knew the right people and had a supportive community to make it happen! Well, now you do!
For the first time ever, Cody Qualls and Globalsound Studio is opening a summer camp up for a group songwriting course to help all young musicians from newcomers to seasoned songsmiths. Whether you are a budding talent considering a career in songwriting, or a newer student simply wanting a “just-for-fun, creative experience” this camp is for YOU!
Songwriter Summer Camp Details:
•A week long, fun workshop that takes you from an idea to a professional quality song and recording!
•Camp runs Monday – Friday, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm each day
•There will be two camps, one for both younger and older students.
•Each day will consist of writing, rehearsals, practice time & fun music-based game & activities
•On Friday at 2:30pm, parents and the community are invited to an end of camp “listening party & behind the scenes chat” with our young artists. The campers will share their demo, and our students will have the opportunity to answer questions from the audience about their artistry, and their experiences writing.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Students can expect an exciting and educational week of learning music taught by our talented camp instructors. Each day, students will be asked to bring a lunch, snacks, and water.
We will cover everything from:
- Basic music theory overview (getting you “in the game” even if you’ve never taken music lessons)
- Lyric writing development
- Chord structure coaching
- Song structure instruction (trimming the fat and finding the hooks)
- Learning and discussing the ingredients of a “hit” song.
- Learning what a DAW (digital audio workstation) is and how it can be used to communicate your songwriting ideas to producers and other co-writers
- Overview of the business of songwriting, basic marketing philosophy/skills benefiting independent writers/artists in the current music industry.
For one full day of camp, students will work with national touring performer, and former Atlantic recording artist, Justin Long. Our partnership with Justin allows our campers the ability to achieve a professional quality recording of their song to share with friends, family and on social media.
A recording with a similar level producer in Nashville, LA, or NYC could cost an artist easily 10x a much as the cost of the entire five day camp (truly, that’s on the low end). This camp offers students unreal access to accomplished industry professionals at an unbelievable value.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:
Cody Qualls:
iTunes charting artist and 1st place winner of the Great American Song Contest, Cody Qualls is an internationally acclaimed songwriter and frontman. He has written tracks that have broken sales records at Red Rocks Amphitheater, and been featured on Lifetime Fitness’ setlists for several of their most popular dance-fitness offerings in the US.
Cody has recorded alongside greats such as Nina Storey, Hazel Miller and legend Eddie Kramer (producer to The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Kiss, Matchbox 20 and Carlos Santana).
As an instructor of music and arts, Qualls has taught alongside A-list Broadway professionals, major label artists, Grammy award winners as well as some of the most sought after vocal coaches in the industry.
Justin Long:
Justin Leighton Long is a musician, engineer and record producer who has worked in various styles including blues, country, rock, rap and pop. He is a Billboard charting artist and has toured North America extensively.
As a recording engineer and producer Justin has worked for bands signed to labels including Atlantic, Elektra, Immortal, Wind Up, Curb, Blind Bat, S-Curve, Victory, Blues Legacy and J Records.
-A full refund will be offered to cancelled camps up to 30 days prior to the camp start date. After that, due to the time intensive planning for each student and our group, no refunds can be offered.
-If for any reason Globalsound must cancel a camp due to low enrollment families will be notified at least 72 hours in advance and issued a full refund.
